Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in helping to make our Quantum Leap 20th Anniversary convention the best event it can possibly be! Please complete this volunteer application only if you're certain that you can be dedicated to the position(s) you are volunteering for.

We may receive too many applications for a particular committee, so please select multiple choices. If your application is accepted, we will e-mail you to confirm that you have been accepted as a convention volunteer, and your section will be assigned within the coming months. The volunteer duty roster will be sent out to you shortly before the convention.

Since the con is for the benefit of charity, we’re unable to "comp" memberships for volunteers, so you will be responsible for purchasing a ticket to attend the event. At the same time, we realize that you will want to enjoy the weekend’s activities, so we plan to schedule on-site volunteers for no more than a 2-hour shift each day. We also plan to express our heartfelt thanks to our committee members and on-site volunteers for all their hard work via a special Sunday evening party. (Please be aware, though, that status as a committee member and/or on-site volunteer does not include admission to the celebrity guests’ Green Room.)

MEDIA COMMITTEES

Audio/Visual Committee
Work with hotel committee to order A/V equipment. Setup, maintenance, safety of equipment.

Advertising Committee
Coordinate ads on websites, flyers, word of mouth, etc.

Photography & Videography Committee
Select staff/volunteers to take official photos and video, and photos with the stars. Take official photos, videos, photos with the stars. Mail photos to purchasers if not picked up at con.

Publishing Committee
Design, write, edit program book; submit final copy to printer; arrange for pickup or delivery.

Website Committee
Keep MySpace page up-to-date with happenings prior to con. Update MySpace page with “as it happens” blog for fans who couldn’t attend – with photos/audio if possible. Assist webmaster in providing current information, photos, articles, etc. from/about the con.

 

SALES COMMITTEES

Charity Auction Committee
Collect items, prepare catalog. Conduct auction, collect money. Mail items to buyer if not picked up at con; thank-you letters to donors.

Dealer's Room Committee
Find dealers and send their business cards to the Committee Heads. Aid dealers with setup and errands; make sure room is locked off-hours.

Merchandising Committee
Coordinate merchandise order with vendor (including pickup or delivery). Work with dealers’ room staff and registration to distribute/sell items. Mail items not picked up at con.

 

ON-SITE COORDINATION COMMITTEES

Entertainment Committee
Coordinate costume contest, music for parties, skits, etc. Oversee costume contest and parties.

Decorations Committee
Choose motif for rooms/events; prepare decorations. Setup decorations; takedown on Sunday p.m.

Security Committee
Prepare roster of security staff. Oversee safety of equipment, guests, attendees.

 

GUEST RELATIONS COMMITTEES

Travel Committee
Answer questions from attendees.
